AUSTIN, TEXAS — Members of the Red Team - Tier 1 Fugitive Investigation Group  recently concluded another successful fugitive apprehension operation after locating and capturing a violent offender wanted on multiple serious felony charges in the Austin area.

The assignment involved a subject who skipped bail after reportedly being sentenced to serve a minimum of three years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice following convictions related to:

• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Firearm)

• Felon in Possession of a Firearm

• Hit & Run Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury or Death

According to intelligence developed during the investigation, the fugitive was actively avoiding detection by not having anything in his name and had gone into hiding following sentencing. Informants advised investigators that the subject was unlikely to surrender voluntarily and could potentially resist apprehension.

Building the Intelligence Picture

Red Team investigators immediately began a comprehensive fugitive investigation that combined traditional investigative techniques, informant development, surveillance operations, and intelligence gathering.

Over the course of three days, investigators worked to establish the fugitive's current movements, associates, and possible locations. As is often the case with violent offenders attempting to avoid incarceration, the subject was taking deliberate steps to remain concealed and limit his exposure.

Investigators eventually identified a vehicle believed to be associated with the fugitive and developed information indicating he may be frequenting an apartment complex within the Austin area.

Covert Surveillance Pays Off

With actionable intelligence in hand, Red Team members established covert surveillance on the target location.

Surveillance operations require patience, discipline, and attention to detail. Hours can pass without activity, but successful fugitive apprehensions are often won long before the arrest takes place. Proper surveillance allows investigators to confirm identities, assess risks, evaluate escape routes, and develop a safe apprehension plan.

After maintaining surveillance on the location, investigators observed the wanted subject exit the apartment complex.

Rapid Open-Air Apprehension

Once the fugitive was positively identified and moved into a favorable environment, Red Team investigators initiated a rapid open-air apprehension.

The operation was executed quickly and professionally, preventing the subject from fleeing or escalating the encounter.

Despite prior intelligence indicating the fugitive might not surrender peacefully, investigators successfully took him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported during the apprehension.

Booked Into Travis County Jail

Following the arrest, the fugitive was transported and booked into the Travis County Jail, where he will now continue serving the sentence imposed by the court.
