In the world of fugitive investigations, every piece of equipment carried into the field has one job: perform consistently when lives depend on it. Innovative products are always welcome, especially those that promise increased stability, improved accuracy, and a more compact alternative to traditional pistol-caliber carbines.

One such product is the Recover Tactical 20/20 Stabilizer Chassis for Glock pistols.

After extensive evaluation, our opinion is mixed.

First Impressions

Recover Tactical deserves credit for creating an innovative and affordable platform. The chassis is lightweight, compact, and extremely easy to deploy. Installation takes only minutes and requires no permanent modification to the firearm.

From an ergonomic standpoint, the system is impressive.

The chassis feels natural in the hands, provides multiple points of contact, and dramatically improves weapon handling compared to a standard handgun. For anyone looking for a compact vehicle gun or home-defense platform, the concept makes a great deal of sense.

The size is excellent.

The weight is excellent.

The controls are intuitive.

Unfortunately, this is where the positives begin to fade.



The Biggest Problem: Chassis Flex

During testing, one issue became immediately apparent.

The polymer chassis exhibits noticeable flex during firing.

While some movement in a polymer firearm accessory is expected, the amount of flex observed in the Recover Tactical system directly affected accuracy.

At distances inside approximately 20 yards, performance remained barely acceptable.

Beyond 20–25 yards, accuracy deteriorated rapidly.

Instead of producing predictable groups, impacts began scattering across the target with group sizes frequently exceeding 12 inches.

For comparison, the Glock pistol alone was capable of substantially tighter groups than when installed inside the chassis.

The inconsistency appears to stem from movement between the pistol, chassis, and optic mounting system.

For recreational shooters, this may simply be frustrating.

For professionals in the field, it is unacceptable.


The Optic Mount

Our second concern involves the optic mounting system.

The Recover Tactical optic mount is constructed from ABS polymer, which allows visible movement under pressure.

Whether shooting from supported positions or simply applying normal weapon manipulation, the mount can flex enough to alter optic alignment.

Any optic mounting system should provide a rigid interface between the firearm and the optic.

This one does not.

When an optic shifts—even slightly—the point of impact shifts considerably with it.

For close-range recreational use, that may not be immediately noticeable.

For professional users, it creates unnecessary uncertainty.


Professional Use: Where the Risk Begins

As fugitive investigators, we routinely evaluate equipment based on one simple question:

Would we trust this to protect ourselves and innocent lives?

Unfortunately, our answer here is no.

In close-quarters environments such as:

  • Vehicle assaults

  • Residential warrant service

  • Apartment entries

  • Building searches

  • Executive protection details

  • Law enforcement CQB operations

…the Recover Tactical chassis can certainly make a Glock easier to control and faster to shoot.

However, professional operators are accountable for every round fired.

When equipment introduces enough movement to create unpredictable impacts outside typical room distances, it becomes more than a performance issue—it becomes a potential liability.

A missed shot doesn't simply miss a target.

It has the potential to strike an innocent person beyond the intended threat.

No responsible investigator, law enforcement officer, or armed security professional should knowingly introduce that level of uncertainty into a critical incident. No matter how "cool" the concept is.


Who Is It Good For?

To be fair, the Recover Tactical 20/20 still has a place.

It is an enjoyable range accessory.

It is compact.

It stores easily in vehicles.

It is affordable.

For recreational shooting or casual defensive use at very close distances, many users will likely enjoy the platform.

We simply do not believe it meets the reliability and precision standards expected of professional end users.


Our Recommendation

If your intended use involves:

  • Fugitive investigations

  • Bail enforcement

  • Law enforcement

  • Armed security

  • Professional protective operations

we recommend looking elsewhere.

Our current recommendation is building a system around the SIG Sauer P320 using the FLUX Raider II chassis.

While significantly more expensive, the FLUX platform provides a much more rigid design, improved accuracy potential, superior optic mounting, and overall performance that better aligns with the expectations of professional users and currently adopted by U.S. SOCOM operators for CQB missions.

Based on our initial evaluations, it represents what a duty-ready pistol chassis system should be.

Recover Tactical has developed an innovative product with tremendous potential. However, until the chassis and optic mounting system are engineered with significantly greater rigidity, we cannot recommend the 20/20 chassis for professional fugitive investigators, law enforcement officers, or armed security personnel whose equipment must perform with absolute consistency under pressure.
